Can anyone help me with artists or songs?
I've found that my favorite music to worship and praise with is gospel!! The problem is, no one in my family can really relate to that nor do they know of any artists. I'd appreciate any song titles, choirs, or artists you enjoy! There's something about it that moves the soul like no other genre. Thank you so much in advance!! ~Indie G moreResolved Question: Do you guys think Joss Stone's voice overrated compared to most female R&B singers?
too me it seems like the music critics give her way too much credit a lot of them have called the modern day soulful songtress, the white Aretha Franklin, the soul singer of the 21st century in my opinion i think they overrate her too much she has a good voice no doubt about it and beyond her years but i have seen better female singers her age who can blow and have better voices for example Jazmine Sullivan I watch Joss sing sometimes and she does not know how to use her voice at times she blows through the songs can't hold her notes right, she blows through the songs like she is some gospel singer but she ruins her voice by doing that because she is not trained to sing like that. I think one of the soulful talents out here today who i think is better is Leela James her voice is impressive what do you guys think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sArUsYP1b4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv9SAFkKPQ8 moreResolved Question: If you have an untrained voice, can you still learn how to sing soul music or gospel?
I'd like to impress my cat. He loves it when I sing to him, hahaI've a talented, but untrained voice and love this type music. Just wondering if voice lessons and joining some type of chorus would improve my voice even more and if so how much % of improvement?I only love this for personal enjoyment, do not have any goals to be in a band. I'm a painter. moreResolved Question: Some good music to listen to?
So i was just looking for some good like gospel/hip-hop type songs, i guess soul, and was wondering what some of your favorite stuff is!! You can also put other kind of music you like because that's always good too!! moreResolved Question: What genre of music do you like to listen too?
I like sounds individually! If a song sounds good, and its a rock song then so be it. Usually, I find myself listening to R&B, neo-soul, reggae, reggaeton, soca, and gospel. moreVoting Question: What is your fave type of music?
rap hiphop country folk rock alternative pop rnb jazz classical oldies metal electronica&dance latin gospel soundtrack soul These are the options...thanks for the help! moreResolved Question: What genres/types of music are guys "supposed" to listen to?
A friend of mine said some of the songs on my iPod were "gay" (FYI, I'm not gay - the worst insult I've ever received - no offence). I think music's for everyone, regardless of sexual preference. If music's fashion, then am I cross-dressing unknowingly? I listen to country, Gospel, acoustic, jazz, R&B, soul, senti., blues, etc. (mellow stuff). I usually steer clear of pop, rap, hip-hop... rock makes my head hurt (the typical trash I hear on MTV). Is there something wrong with me? moreResolved Question: COMMENTS ON MY POEM!! FAST!?
Music Gospel Music to some people is sort of like church It heals your soul whenever you’re hurt People jump around and people dance They get dressed up to hear a message Artists are looked up to and they are praised Like tithes and offerings, tickets are paid Icons are heroes in people’s eyes Music can bring some joyful cries People need music’s strength as much as possible Music to some, is another gospel moreResolved Question: If I say that black people are musical geniuses?
because they have produced the most beautiful music the world has ever known; jazz, gospel, rythym and blues, soul, etc... Does that make me a racist?Melanie- yes, there are whites who play black music, but blacks invented this kind of music, whites didn't.Zeus - I agree with you that a lot of it comes from needing an outlet from the pain and anguish of what they went through. Their music was a way for them to express it. moreVoting Question: Holy Ghost Fire and Workers in The Field?
So, I'm with my mom in a nearby town and I see a church that I used to go to. Then I trun and see another church just a rock's throw away. I step two inches to the left and see another behind it. Yes, in one town that takes 5 minutes to drive thru I count well over 10 churches. Within a 30 minute radius nearly 20. They include Pentecostal/Apostolic, Methodist, Catholic, Nazerene, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, etc. Why all the churches??? I was born and raised Pentecostal, and all I have ever known was super-hyped worship, tongues, and holy-ghost services. Power...that's the hype...holy ghost power. Yet, I wonder where is the power when saturday comes and all those who got such a blessing out of the blowout revival are not roaming the streets preaching the gospel and spreading this "unquenchable fire" that was working so wonderfully Sunday night...you get me? The "holy ghost filled" church that I go to now has a man who goes out and knocks doors every saturday. He is the ONLY one who does this, except for a partner, a man who works offshore and can only help every other week. Now, riddle me this, Batman: Where the heck are all those who dance in the victory every Sunday (young AND! old)? I started reading my Bible and found that the ones Christ gave the Holy Ghost to DID something with it, and sitting on a pew telling me to shave my "heathenistic" beard, and keep my hair trimmed is not among them. You know what is? Yup, going out into the highways and hedges, compelling them to come in. No, not slamming them with tongues and holy-ghost fire. They have to accept, yes ACCEPT! Jesus Christ before they can be trusted with such an important gift. Why do we continue to harp and promote denominal agenda's when all Jesus told us to do was proclaim his life and love. HE will give them the Holy Ghost AFTER he saves their soul. NOWHERE! does it say that speaking in tongues will save our souls? Wanna argue? Tell it to all my friends who shouted and spoke in tongues before they really understood what living for Jesus meant!!!!! THEY ARE LOST NOW BECUASE THEY WERE TOLD IT WAS ALL IN TONGUES AND WORSHIP. IT AIN'T!!!!!!!! They built no foundation! The church only told them to dance when the music got loud and the preacher got excited! No one told them to LISTEN and read and pray and argue about the bible and fight through DAMNABLE TRADITIONS created by by twisted men and women "of God!" Nobody told them that to keep that Holy Ghost stirred, to keep those muscles strong, you had to work them out in doing HIS work, not sitting in a pew or going to youth camp! It's denominal entertainment!!! So back to my original thought. In this community with what, five churhces with in walking distance, there are still families lost. So why do we continue to believe that suffereing for Christ's sake means crying about bills and crap instead of embarrasing ourselves on the streets by spreading His word like the world is going to Hell!?!? I'm telling you one thing, blowout services and dancing in the victory sure ain't filling up the church I go too. It's like we think that this is all a joke and Jesus was just shooting a bunch of crap. And the sad part is that I am one of the worst...although, most apostolics would probably describe me as a deadhead pew warmer... moreResolved Question: Where are the Workers?

I'm in a college class called "African American Musical Traditions" and I have a presentation to do on pretty much anything that has to do with African American music. Some people have done gospel, others neo soul, and even just a presentation on a single person, but I'm completely drawing a blank, and I also don't wanna pick something obvious and do the same thing as another person. moreResolved Question: Is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame turning into the African-American music Hall of Fame? Rock & Pop?
For the first 20 minutes they've only had black men in their 50s dressed in suits singing soul and gospel music. They're showing clips from these groups from the 1950s singing "shimmy shimmy cocoa pop". They haven't said one thing about Metallica. WHAT IS GOING ON? Where are the guitars and real Rock n Roll music?Blues have guitars. This is gospel music. This isn't a race thing, I just don't see many african-american gospel singers in today's (or yesterdays!) rock bands.Paperbag, bury yourself in your records of The Who and The Beatles while fantasizing to your 1960s culture.how about the actual thing itself besides everything that lead to it moreResolved Question: I'm looking for some good old time gospel music?
Like the black gospel groups from the 60s and earlier. I LOVE stuff by the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, also stuff by the Staple Singers, Caravans, Davis Sisters, Mighty Clouds of Joy, James Cleveland, Jessy Dixon, some Mahalia Jackson, but I really like the upbeat stuff with a lot of soul in it. I have a decent amount but I really need song suggestions. Also, I'm looking for a cd or a box set with like the "best of" this kinda music. I know there are a lot like that by I'm looking for the best one.I wonder if the people on here even know music like this exists. moreResolved Question: Explain the evolution help please?
Can someone explain the evolution of the jurist’s values using the books/novels he was reading as evidence of how he was changing what he thought was important? Here is the part of the story I need they are talking about: In the second year the piano was silent in the lodge, and the prisoner asked only for the classics. In the fifth year music was audible again, and the prisoner asked for wine. Those who watched him through the window said that all that year he spent doing nothing but eating and drinking and lying on his bed, frequently yawning and angrily talking to himself. He did not read books. Sometimes at night he would sit down to write; he would spend hours writing, and in the morning tear up all that he had written. More than once he could be heard crying. In the second half of the sixth year the prisoner began zealously studying languages, philosophy, and history. He threw himself eagerly into these studies—so much so that the banker had enough to do to get him the books he ordered. In the course of four years some six hundred volumes were procured at his request. It was during this period that the banker received the following letter from his prisoner: "My dear Jailer, I write you these lines in six languages. Show them to people who know the languages. Let them read them. If they find not one mistake I implore you to fire a shot in the garden. That shot will show me that my efforts have not been thrown away. The geniuses of all ages and of all lands speak different languages, but the same flame burns in them all. Oh, if you only knew what unearthly happiness my soul feels now from being able to understand them!" The prisoner's desire was fulfilled. The banker ordered two shots to be fired in the garden. Then after the tenth year, the prisoner sat immovably at the table and read nothing but the Gospel. It seemed strange to the banker that a man who in four years had mastered six hundred learned volumes should waste nearly a year over one thin book easy of comprehension. Theology and histories of religion followed the Gospels. I am Christian and im saved in i listen to mostly gospel music but i also listen to worldly music but the worldly music i listen to doesn't have cursing or talking about sex in it. is it wrong to listen to this type of music? is it going to hinder my soul? moreResolved Question: Viva La Vida and Catholisism?
The whole song seems to be an interpretation of three verses of the New Testament: "He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it." "For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole and suffer the loss of his own soul?" "a wise man that built his house upon a rock, And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell not...a foolish man that built his house upon the sand, And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall thereof." To explain: the writer has recognised in his own life as a pop-idol that, seemingly, the whole world looks up to him – he was, metaphorically, on top of the World: "I used to rule the world," And, given there are many in the world keen to be ‘trendy’, ‘in-the-know’ or ‘enlightened’, that the ‘World’ was copying or imitating him noticeably: "Seas would rise when I gave the word." Our writer explains to us that having recognised his worldly honour and influence, he would take risks, probably to increase his worldly appeal, but that these actions would prompt genuine appeals (being from the heart and hence ‘felt’) from other quarters unsympathetic to his lifestyle probably, but whom also were keen to influence the same pop-fans he controlled: “I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes”. The writer then tells us he has departed his throne and is leading a chaste and humble life, although we are not to presume that this is a regrettable situation as the lyrics later reveal. Instead we are to deduce that this previous life was not chaste and not humble, but proud and possibly even prostituted. “now in the morning I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own” He learns that he has been deceiving himself or has been deceived. Instead of having free access to what he perceives as paradise, as if the World could offer him the key to heaven, he is shut out from paradise in every aspect of his life. His World is crumbling: “One minute I held the key Next the walls were closed on me And I discovered that my castles stand Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand”. So where is he now and what is it that he hears or sees: “I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing” Since Melchisedec, King of Salem, Priest of the most High God, Jerusalem has been associated as the City of God. But Jewish or Christian? “Roman Cavalry choirs are singing” Rome would insinuate specifically the Catholic church rather than Christianity in general - the Papacy being in Rome - and Cavalry Choirs would be a correct way to describe the Gospel or Good News as sung at Mass by the congregation (all alive in the Catholic faith are referred to as Church Militant: the Church Triumphant being in Heaven, the Church Suffering being in Purgatory). Also, ‘choirs’ would be a reference to this militia being spiritual or religious rather than temporal. In other words, the messages coming from militant choirs in Rome or emanating from every Roman Catholic church throughout the world, is the Word of God. So it is the Word of God or Christ who is saying to our writer: “Be my mirror, my sword and shield My missionaries in a foreign field” So, thus far, our writer has told us that he has been a king of types in the world, but discovers that there is a power above the world. He tells us that while he was a king in the world, he was keen to have the world follow his word. But now he says he hears the real King talking to him, and that the real King want our writer to spread the real King’s Word to the world, not the writer’s. To reinforce the writer’s previous message that celebrating in worldly ways can only be deceiving, our writer tells us that when he stopped listening to the messages from Rome and following the peel to return to Jerusalem, the city of God, life becomes a lie: “Once you go there was never Never an honest word And that was when I ruled the world” He also goes on to tell us that he wasn’t always worldly in his ambition nor went seeking such, but that he was caught up in something that arrived, which was not upright or good or honest, but was bad, immoral and anarchic or unfettered: “It was the wicked and wild wind Blew down the doors to let me in”. And that this diabolical force led him to use music, which previously was an opening to enlightenment, in a way that blocked the light and disturbed all who heard, promising fame and infamy: “Shattered windows and the sound of drums People couldn't believe what I'd become” Again the writer reinforces the deceitfulness of the honours the World has to offer in that any honour is subject to the higher, hidden power that puts you there, and that you will do its dance, whether you like it or not. And that this World will oust you on a whim if it spots someone else’s dance it suddenly prefers. moreResolved Question: Is American music essentially African American music?
I mean, because aside from bluegrass, county(maybe) and classical music from Europe,African Americans have invented every form of "American" music genres. The question must seem misleading for those who believe God doesn't exist full-stop, because the worlds not a better place for them or any one else as it is.. So what i mean is,, if there never ever was the mention of God or Gods since the beginning of time and every thought of man was in no way religious at all, would the world be a better place in that respect.. Also would any of these be mist because a world without God would not include them-: Christmas, New years, Easter, Churches, Chapels, Temples. There would be no cursing the lords name in vain, no wars started in the name of the lord, but wars started for anger, hate, repercusions, greed and power instead, no life after death, when you die your dead for eternity, but you have one life to live to the full.. Would music be affected by this, most popular music originated out from religion-: Gospel, Soul, Blues, Country, R&B, Rock n Roll, Rock, all the Eastern and Asian music.. There are some music that would still exist possibly the non spiritual type like Classical or Opera which i kinda like still. Now if that's how the world can be would you like it that way? or would you prefer an alternative that "God does exist", i mean really existed and you new it was the truth, and all you had to do was believe in him and you will have eternal life after death.. Which would you prefer? if you can be honest.. love to hear your answers.. CheersSo far most people who prefers life without a God has not stated how life would seem with a God..... and for those who prefer to have a God they've stated how life would seem without a God...... To close it seems to me that logically it would be best if there is a God than if there is not a God.... most people seem to miss the point.... just like saying what do you prefer peace or war, now why would any one say war, i'll choose God any day..Edward s: im proud to say one non believer so far that would prefer a world with God but no religion..Truth Fairy Returns i think thats a pathetic answer.. firstly what is happening in the world is here now so how can you say if god exists the world is horrible but he he doesnt the world is great.. like as if your statement some how corrected everything in the blink of an eye because yousaid so.. utter rubbish really. moreResolved Question: Music Suggestions for me ?

MY CLOSE FRIEND EMAILED THIS TO ME IN A CHAIN TEXT THING music is the only thing that can go throughout your brain without any resistance. thats y u can memorize a song so fast. We need to allow God to use our body on earth. The history of Hip Hop begins with Egypt. In the bible Egypt was where slaves were kept in captive. From Egypt people got together and made the Zulu nation and they got the name Hip Hop from an angel. Those same people in the zulu nation believe that God is black, that Jesus is for white people, and that the 1st people on earth was black. Those people began to put things against Christ in their music (anti christ). KRS1 is one of the 1st hip hop rappers of all time and he said that there is no God. There is no holy hip hop. Hip Hop is an organized religion and it's like a disease. Rappers believe that they are God. the leader of hip hop who is KRS1 said that you can be whoever you worship. he said stop worshipping Jesus and be Jesus. stop worshipping alah and be alah. It takes two races to have one race. hip hop is the most popular religion right now. alot of people contribute to the religion like alicia keys, india arie, jill scott, common etc. they dn't believe in Jesus. The wu tang clan has a video out about cutting the head of Jesus and then they take his spirit and make their whole wu tang crew. Hip hop rappers beleive that Jesus is the white man's God. A neo soul singer named D'angelo did Voodoo in haiti so that christian women would buy his cd. The title of his album was voodoo. Adolf Hitler said "give me the music of the nations youth and i will control the nation with music". If adolf hitler could say that back in the days, what do u think is goin going on now? The power of life and death is in the tongue. what u say is what u get. the devil knows that there are certain things u won't say, like, you won't clearly say "God is not God",so he puts those types of things in music unclearly so we can say it without even knowing we r saying it. Neo Soul singers beleive that God is man and women. Artists are trying to make all God's acceptable. the devil wants to destroy God's people. The church is losing power because of the music people listen to. There are many gospel artists who even make songs with secular artists. Puff daddy cut a deal with playboy and now they are showing porn with hip hop. Wearing sean john's clothing supports what he does. In one of 50cents songs, he says that he should be in the bible. he wants people to worship him. life is crazy now a days because so many people in the church are going to hell because of what they put into their life and what they do. Bone thugs and harmony have a curse on one of their cd's when u turn it upside dwn and when you say it, u sell ur soul into their religion without even knowing it. Before the devil got kicked out of heaven, he was over music in heaven, isnt that crazy? Music that does not speak about God is glorifying the devil. neo soul artists want to delete Jesus. Many people on tv are paid not to speak againts the entertainment indistry. VHI, MTV and BET are owned by a company named viacom but no one knows the president's name of that company and those channels are most watched. christians are not supposed to curse because that sets a curse on them. Music is so prominent. You can hear the rhythm of a song that i haven't heard in like 5 yrs and u r still able to remember every word from that song. Music puts words in our head that we dnt wanna say. we have to watch what we put in our head. There are alot of hidden things in disney movies that r so bad. Rappers want to mock the church. Jay Z believes that he is God and he says murder Jesus in 1 of his songs. He even says 666 which is of the devil. Everytime a horror movie is made, someone either directly in the movie or the producer or someone related to someone in the movie, dies. Tupac and biggie smalls both came out with songs about dying right b4 they died. When aaliyah died the police found her body in a swamp filled with snakes and in her last video called we need a resolution, she was in water with snakes. Wat a coincidence? More people will get into hell than heaven. Young Jeezy says in one of his songs that when he goes to hell he is going to fry. We are really living in a spirtual world. It's hard to see something bad in something that u like. U know what i mean? People who like Jay Z or usher or beyonce will not want to stop listening to them so they dnt wana know nething bad about them. Have u ever wondered y its so hard to stop lsitening to music or to stop wathcing tv? Because the devil wants us to learn and live our lives according to what he says in music and what we see on tv. its so sad but its the truth.U can tell peep about wat u learned by reading this and u can google all this info. WHATS UR INPUT ON THIS? If u guys say so.. I am lookin at this with depth and hell yea this thing is long. I still read it because I'm hearin what they are sayin... Honestly, even though he comes off as a bit arrogant, I think Mr. CASP3R likes hip hop a lot... Hit me up. Prove me wrong. No nody proved me wrong yet.. I wanna know the answer to this. Seriously. moreResolved Question: What do you think of this neo-soul played here?

Today mark's the 31st anniversary of the King of Rock N Roll, Mr. Elvis Presley's death in 1977. If it hadn't been for Elvis, we wouldn't have what we know as rock n roll music today. He created it all from his love of Blues music and gave the world some of the best rock, gospel, country, blues, soul, etc..that we could think of. So rock on in heaven Mr. Elvis Aaron Presley January 8th, 1935-August 16th, 1977 moreResolved Question: good live recorded black gospel music?

I like "All Things Are Possible" by Darlene Zschech and "Way Back into Love" from the movie Music and Lyrics. I like "All Things Are Possible" most of all because my life story so far has been about situations that I could not imagine coming true... from sickness back to health, from my son's fatal accident to his survival , from difficult situations to answered prayers, because the bottom line to it all is believing that He exists and makes all things possible =) I have stories for these featured in a blog. The popular music of most countries around the world (if its not their traditional music) seems to be derived from musical styles that originate In the U.S. I’ve noticed that when vocalist from around the world sing in English they tend to adopt an American accent. Like Amy weinhouse(sp?) or the Beatles, or U2 and even bjork ***The most obvious example of this is How almost every nation has a style of hip-hop associated with it and the two areas that have adopted this genre the most is Europe and eastern Asia (especially Germany, Japan, and Korea) The Beatles said they gathered inspiration from, soul, rock and roll, and gospel Punk rock originated in the U.K. but it is derived from rock, which is a product of the U.S. Did you know that in germany A world breakdancing competition is held every year its called "Battle of The Year" and A Korean crew is the current champion...Thats just amazes meI just want to add that this is only in regards to pop culture and it is not a ..God bless America or patriotic post...so please dont take it that way@first poster... well you definition of the word sucks is derived from american slang.......@THE FOOL true we are merely the catalyst for creation the true ingredients come from all over the worldHappily Happy seing as we have our own slang(not just black but many other creative ways of speaking) music, clothing styles, holidays, customs(which tend to be a blend of others)...I would have to say we just like any other country have our ow culture@APocolypselater YOu are so Right I am a Serious breaker and I go to shows and competitions in america and ll my non breaker friend treat it like its an underground thing....its sad also did you know tht in spain they have a form of music called gypsy-jazz@happily un happy what the hell are you talking about.... family is at the very core of the "American dream" you are and idiot and know nothing o what you speak moreResolved Question: Looking for a Song!?
